The weather is looking up. It was only last week that the weather was still bloody cold, wet and down right unattractive, but looking at the forecast for the coming week, the maximums are up in the low 20’s and the minimums are in the double figures.
The guys over at Velominati have this to say about the turn of seasons.
“Seriously. Is it almost September? This was not the agreement, this was supposed to be an endless summer. And all you A-Holes down there in the Antipodes are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, enjoying longer days and shorter nights. I don’t need to tell you where you can take that, but it’s dark and it smells. I have no patience for the changing of seasons when it means I’m going to be benching Number One and busting out the headlight.”
Suffer in your pants! We certainly have been suffering over here.
Another sign that the season is starting starting to turn are magpie attacks.
Riding along Swamp Road last Saturday morning, a persistent little bastard surprised me, I wasn’t ready for an attack, and the little bugger had a least 7 goes at me.
Looking at Adelaide Cyclist, it looks like others are starting to report magpie attacks, so get out your cable ties, stick those eye stickers on the back of your helmet, or whatever else you have stashed away in your closet of home remedies, because:
The above magpie photos are a screen grab from a video posted on Adelaide cyclists by Geraint (Fred) Thomas – have a look here:
This video is going to give me nightmares.
It was great to get out on Saturday morning for a half decent ride.It was marvellous to see the swollen creeks on the other side of the ranges, enough so to inspire me to get out on Sunday afternoon and take a few snaps. Speaking to one of the local farmers on Lobbie Road, it looks like the creeks were at their peak on Thursday and have slowly declined since then, but they still look great.
Here are just a few.
Hunters Road – Little Italy
Intersection of Roads: Knotts Hill – Hunters – Burdetts & Blockers
Lobethal Road – Just at the start of Forest Range Climb
Old Carey Gully Road
Enjoy the green hills, because it wont be too long till they turn and they are as dry as:
Drawing a long bow between cycling and the Targa, I was caught up in the Targa road closures on Saturday morning at Norton, just as I was starting to wind down and enjoy the cost back down to Home. I had to back track back up to Greenhill Road and had the pleasure of seeing a number of the Targa cars driving up to their next stage. So, here are a few snaps of the cars back at norwood at the end of the rally.

TV Show of the Week – Louie
Louie is an American comedy-drama television series on the FX network that began airing in 2010. It is written, directed, edited and produced by the show’s creator, stand-up comedian Louis C.K., who stars as a fictionalized version of himself, a comedian and newly divorced father raising his two daughters in New York City.
The show has a loose format atypical for television comedy series, consisting of largely unconnected storylines and segments (described as “extended vignettes” (now thats a word you wouldn’t expect on Wednesday Legs) that revolve around Louie’s life, punctuated by live stand-up performances.
A great little show that is currently screening on ABC2, Monday nights.
Have a look here.
